TMC, MJFC Belgium meets Mr. LaVelle Smith, Jr.

The sun is shining and we are smiling. Marina, our charity lady, and me are driving to Hilversum in the Netherlands on invitation to meet Mr. LaVelle Smith, Jr. ‘MOVE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON’ is into the final week.
This day the last rehearsals for the contesters, so also the crew is at work. Place to be: Mediapark, Studio 24 Hilversum.
Great advice to all: do not follow your GPS system or you end up like us: stuck in centre of Hilversum. But some people have patience and I’m sure God answered some of our prayers.

We walk into the studio, no line up and are even served with a fresh cold drink.
This is where the show will be, we can select our own seat, first row of course… Impressing hall, already 1/3 of the room filled with the lightning and stage.
It is here that history will be written next Saturday for 1 person or group who will perform on the Memorial Concert for Michael.
LaVelle is present at the worktable.
When he walks through the room, we see a man with self-confidence and the walk of a dancer. So friendly to everyone.

We gladly take the offer to talk outside, this is how it should be: informal, without pen or paper or microphone.
Just people who respect Michael a lot.
This, ladies and gentleman, is a man with super talent, who won every possible award for choreography.
He worked with the biggest names in music industry, as dancer and choreographer.
For the MJ fans who don’t know him well: if you ever see ‘Dangerous’,
this is one of his work piece of art! He worked with Michael since the BAD Tour (1986).
If you see footage of the Bad, Dangerous or HIStory Tour, look at the dancer on Michaels right side: this was his place.
And if you like to read an earlier interview we did,
we published it in 2 of our magazines.

I last met him in 1999 and I am very honest: time had no impact on this man, he hardly changed. And even more:
he is still the friendly gentleman I remembered.

LaVelle also worked with Michael on the ‘This is it’ tour.
It started in 2008 in Las Vegas, USA, the weather was very hot.
They worked for 6 months together.
At that time there was no name for the tour yet.
When asked if they worked (again) on a new version for Dangerous he said: “Yes, but also on innovating new moves”.

When asked how he found out Michael passed away, we can feel that it still touches him deeply.
He expresses that he couldn’t believe it at first and then was in shock, for days.
We refer to the show now, called ‘Move like Michael Jackson’, a great tribute to Michael. Happy that someone who worked in person with him is involved.
LaVelle says that there is also the other side that it is getting harder for him.
Realising he can never work in reality with Michael again.
He thought in time with doing this tribute it would be easier, but it is not.
He remembers in the first shows of UK the crew had to remind him every time to speak about Michael in the past time, which was hard to do.
But he did see some great talents at work. Here, in UK, at other places.
We point out that there is talent that he could not see, which is also great (we know).
He realises this, but of course, in these TV shows a selection is made.
He says the finale will be super and is looking forward to it.
AND… so happy he is not in the jury, since he bounded with the candidates.
He would just select all of them. And yes, he too cried last week when Timothy could not hold his tears, like many others backstage.
This young kid has talent and time will reveal that.
Especially the fact that ballet is also where LaVelle started made him watch this child's moves.
And no, we did not ask him who his favourite to win is, since his words: ‘I like them, I consider them all my kids’ is the right attitude to support all.

LaVelle loved the snow figurine that Marina gave.
We explained that our charity goal has always been special to Michael,
to us and all MJ fans.
This one is more personal: 1 Michael photo, 1 of Jessica (photo signed by Michael).
When pointed out he can exchange the photo’s inside he said he will keep it as it is.
Now he also has a VIP concert ticket of HIStory concert 1997,
he never saw it.
Together with some other TMC magazines, some to read, some to learn Dutch…
He signed a photo all of us can enjoy.

LaVelle is happy that everyone of the show can now enjoy 2 days free.
They all worked very hard, so this small break will be time to relax.

With a hug and a kiss we say ‘till Saturday’ to this wonderful man.
Thanking him for all he did for and with Michael.
And for sharing some of his time and thoughts with all of us, the Michael Jackson Fans. Knowing the love Michael brought through the dance will continue, thanks to talented people like Mr. LaVelle Smith, Jr.

YOU let Michael shine!!!
The winner of ‘My name is Michael’, Christophe Lequesne, artist name Christ’OF, performed this weekend the last tribute shows.
The Netherlands and Belgium welcomed him.
First by the rush for the tickets, later he got standing ovations.
A lot of Michael fans passed messages, so this report is from all of us together.

‘Can you feel it?’ the first words and yes, we are started.
Immediately there is a flashback, since these tunes were the first also heard by Michael and his brothers at the concert in New York 2003.
Sadly we have to sit down and can’t stand to swing along
bBut we can applaud, stamp with our feet and of course sing along.
I have no idea how she keeps on doing it, but the make-up
Christ’OF is still improving, and again perfect costumes.
Well done, Bégo!!!

Christ’OF is guided by professionally trained backing vocals.
With a superband that, like he already said, ‘rocks’.
We can feel the beats, even in our chairs.
From the TV programme we see 2 other familiar faces, Urvin and Ruben.
Great they also get their moment to shine.
And of course the kids!

On Friday we saw Romy at work, she was shining.
The last day Laura performed the shows.
Wonderful they selected a Dutch kid to open the shows
And our own Flemish girl to close in Antwerp.
To every kid: wonderful job!

The real winner brought a tribute of honor to Michael.
His own way, by giving it all, in every show. ‘Smooth Criminal’ done an original way, although there was a small incident for Christ’OF with 1 shoe (that seems to got off).
Not many persons noticed this.
A lot of hits from Michael passed, in no real order.
‘She’s out of my live’ becomes HE’s out of my live in the end.
Christ’OF points his vinger to the sky
And in that moment everyone is thinking of Michael, power and energy, but also so touching.

My absolute top in show is the song ‘The way you make me feel’, this time we hear 4 different voices.
The set is changed, like with ‘Thriller Live’, this time the ladies try to hunt the man (Christ’OF).
‘They don’t really care about us’, the cast with the kids.
Is a song a lot of fans mentioned as very special.
One song is unique.
Michael never had the chance to perform this in reality on stage.
For this fans: ‘This is it’. Especially on Sunday, performing this in the last show, the emotions got deep with Christ’OF and tears were rolling.
I guess he realised this was the last part of these shows for his big idol.
To be honest, the TV can be so happy Christ’OF decided to participate.

This winner brings it like no other person could have done it. I missed
‘The Groovies’.
The dancers on stage were brilliant when they got to do their own thing.
But on the show they seems to have a lower energy.
I guess the choreographer really wanted Christ’OF to shine alone.
Hé, he would stand out with brilliant dancers too, as Michael always did, no doubt about that!

The audience are not all fans, there are people in the hall who just saw him perform on TV and impressed by his talent they booked their tickets.
Also his own personality touched their hearts.
Christ’OF and Bégo are just normal people, but with great talents.
Speechless, that is how all left the show.

We did not hear 1 negative comment or got any negative reply later.
Christ’OF, thank to you Michael could shine back.
Again in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Thank you so much for all your efforts. Please take some well deserved rest.

This is my report of the show “My name is Michael”
Written Sunday evening when I came home and now edited on Tuesday when I wrote it down here (FB).
It’s orginally in English but Dutch version will follow soon!
Note: I know I’m against tagging people but this report is also meant as a THANK YOU to the MAN I tagged.
Today was the day… Farewell to pain and worries… Let the Magic begin!
I had chosen to go alone to this show as I feel closer to Michael when I’m alone.
Besides that, when I wear my gold pants I feel fans around me are either jealous or ashamed but I feel proud to wear them.
Its my way of honouring Michael.
So this is the honest report of a true loyal MJ fan.
I’m 28 in Michael years… Uhm, almost 38 in earth years!
I first gotta say God Christophe, you are such a strong emotional and dedicated man!
That was the first thought that hit me when you appeared on stage.
I wondered can I be that strong too? Is it cause you have a loving wife and daughter?
Is it because you get so much love from us or is it even because Michael guides you?
How was the show said in a few words? FANTASTIC!
Emotionally nourishing but too less Christophe or should I say here Michael, in my humble opinion!
I know I’m pampered by Michael who gives 2 hours of bliss!
I know I should appreciate the others cause Michael inspires every generation but I can’t help it to have only eyes for you!
The little Michael’s were cute and danced pretty good but you know me hey!
The REAL fan!
I frowned when my mum said ‘I hope you’re gonna like the show’. I thought of course, I’m gonna see Christophe! ‘. She knows me too well.
Okay, fave parts! Without hesitation, its always ‘Billie Jean’! That’s ICONIC! Michael took over there! I completely forgot it was you, C! For me, you’re not JUST an imitator anymore! It goes way beyond!
YOU become Michael during ‘Billie Jean’! I’m sorry Michael but this is it, you know!
My other most fave part is ‘The way you make me feel’.
That made a huge impression on me too! Such a cool act how those bimbo’s fought for you. God, I envied them right then and there. I would have fought for you too claiming ‘No, you’re mine!’.
I know I would see some frowning now as I always fool people with my Tomboy act but that’s my ‘protective’ shield as I’m way too broken inside.
I think you, Christophe, you have glued me together again! I can still see the cracks but I’m not scattered on the floor anymore! THANKS!
Anyway, when I see you dance like Michael, its like Michael’s soul takes possession of you! You become Michael in that moment!
That’s confusing and soothing at the same time as you know I’m sceptical though towards look a likes.
I love to watch them okay but only to see if they don’t slander Michael.
My stubborn heart just skips a beat when I see you as Michael!
You’re the perfect stand in! For me, a stand in shouldn’t just look the part as they say but should have the same ‘aura’ feel, the same ‘kindness’ and ‘humbleness’ as Michael.
I thought it wasn’t possible but it is!
You have a beautiful aura! Nourish it! “Man in the mirror” was soothing too.
Another thought hit me… “Okay, they may have murdered Michael but they only took away his body from us and NOT his soul!
They are never gonna kill his spirit nor his legacy!
Michael lives on in all of us and definitely in you, C! I’m so proud of you!
Okay, back to the show… The only critic I have is… Why did that other guy ruin two beautiful songs?
Its nothing personal! I’m just that kind of fan, you know! “I just can’t stop loving you” should be sung by YOU!
I don’t care if he sung it perfectly!
It’s the feeling that counts! Maybe, it was just a bit too emotional for you.
I can understand that. He did ruin it, you know.
Oh and Dirty Diana got ruined too! UGH!
Did they think that images of flames would turn me on? Press play and don’t stop! Hahahaha! No, that same performer right? PFFFF….
He could have at least ripped his shirt! It was lame, okay… I know its supposed to be a family show but guys come on…
Yeah, I had a perfect seat for my neck though and suprisingly no tears…
Not even during “She’s out of my life”! Your voice! OMG! I was so mesmerized by it, I just forgot to cry!
I did generally love the show and all the ‘false’ endings! That’s typical Michael.
Always give them the unexpected! I thought it was so sweet of you to reappear on stage in your T-shirt when we scandered your name!
That’s why you are my bright star!
